Open Call for National Steering Committee (NSC) Membership under the "GEF Small Grants Programme" for Civil Society organizations.
Background Information
The Global Environment Facility (GEF) Small Grants Programme (SGP) provides financial and technical support of up to US$50, 000 for projects that conserve and restore the environment while enhancing people`s well-being and livelihoods. The GEF Small Grants Programme has been active in Georgia since 2012 and has financed projects that have contributed to advancing the environmental agenda at the grassroots level. Action at the local level by civil society and community-based organizations contribute to the GEF-8 Programming Directions, UNDP`s Strategic Plan and national priorities to achieve the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and other international commitments.
The National Steering Committee (NSC) is the main decision-making body of the SGP. Members operate in a voluntary capacity and provide representation on youth, gender and technical matters. Strong, experienced, and technically competent civil society representation on the NSC is crucial as a means of keeping the SGP responsive to its mandate to work with Civil Society Organizations. The NSC plays a pivotal role in the success of the SGP. The active participation and contribution of the NSC members in the review, appraisal and approval of proposals, monitoring of projects and oversight of the Country Programme directly informs the success, viability and reputation of the Programme.
The call for applications is open until 20 February 2026.
