The NATO Liaison Office (NLO) in Georgia represents NATO in Georgia, facilitates political/military dialogue and practical cooperation under the NATO-Georgia Commission in support of Georgia`s efforts to join NATO, and enhances civil and military cooperation between NATO and the Government of Georgia in support of Euro-Atlantic integration goals described in the Annual National Programme.

1. INTERNSHIP DESCRIPTION :

The NATO Liaison Office in Georgia (NLO) is pleased to announce a call for applications for the position of Political Affairs Intern. The duration of the internship is 6 months.

The Political Affairs Intern reports to the Head of the NLO through the Head of Political and Public Diplomacy Team and works as part of the NLO`s political team to support the execution of political affairs-related tasks. The internship provides a valuable work experience in an international organization and allows the intern to develop and improve his/her analytical, drafting, and organizational skills.
The selected candidate will be offered a nominal stipend of 350 EUR a month. This position does not carry any expectation of subsequent employment.
Working hours are full-time.

2. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Internship applicants must meet the following criteria:

** Be 21 or older;
** University-level proficiency in Georgian and English;
** Successfully pass a suitability and security screening as well as a medical check;
** Have a university degree, or be enrolled in university-level studies (undergraduate or postgraduate) at a university of recognized standing related to international relations, political science, or another relevant discipline;
** The highest qualification must have been obtained no more than one year preceding the submission of application;
** Good general knowledge of the historical, political and security environment of Georgia

Desirable:

** Relevant work experience is an advantage;
** Knowledge of developments in Armenia and Azerbaijan, as well as regional dynamics in the South Caucasus is a distinct advantage;
** Armenian, Azerbaijani or Russian language proficiency is an advantage, but not a requirement.

Skills:

** Excellent writing skills;
** Good analytical skills; ability to identify, collect, process and synthesise relevant information;
** Strong organizational and time-management skills, including an ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks;
** Good computer skills.

Other:

** Strong self-motivation, perseverance, ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team, including under pressure of tight deadlines;
** Attention to detail;
** Ability to establish and maintain good relations with people of different national, religious, and cultural backgrounds.

3. MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES

The tasks of the Political Affairs Intern include:

** Support the NLO political team in conducting research, information gathering, and daily monitoring of national, regional and international political developments;
** Assist in drafting office memoranda, reports, background papers, information papers and meeting summaries/overviews;
** Assist with preparation and conduct of briefings, conferences, roundtables and other events, as required;
** Assist with drafting official correspondence with the government of Georgia, Embassies accredited in Georgia and other stakeholders, as required;
** Assist with maintaining database of NLO contacts;
** Perform other related duties, as required.

4. INTERRELATIONSHIPS

The Political Affairs Intern reports to the Head of the NATO Liaison Office in Georgia. S/he will get everyday directions through the Head of Political and Public Diplomacy Team.
