Field Entomology Technician

Job Description: Conducts field collections of arthropods to support surveillance programs.

Requirements of this position:

** A bachelor`s degree in entomology, zoology or a life sciences/biology from a college or university accredited by the US or their national authority and prior experience in a research laboratory.
** Demonstrable experience (via publications or job history) with microscopic examination of specimens, preparation of laboratory reagents, sterile techniques, and basic tissue culture techniques.
** Demonstrated proficiency to review manuscripts published in international journals, take oral/written instructions, keep records, discuss procedures, write reports and present data in English.
** Demonstrated proficiency in Level B1 English required.
** Demonstrated proficiency to write and review manuscripts published in international journals, take oral/written instructions, keep records, and discuss procedures in English.
** A driver`s license and good driving skills, including off-road, are required.
** Availability to travel outside of Georgia, within the region for up to2 month per year.

Roles and Responsibilities of this position:

** Demonstrated knowledge maintaining field-caught and laboratory-reared colonies of arthropods for support to various research programs.
** Conducts field collections of arthropods for the initiation of new colonies or to support surveillance programs.
** May require working evenings and weekends. May require overnight travel.
** Demonstrated experience working independently following a brief period of specific technical training.
** Demonstrated experience working with mosquitoes and other vectors, and ability to use traditional taxonomic keys to identify vector species.
** Must have the ability and proficiency to use and manipulate museum curation practices, specifically specimen processing, database management, and collections organization.
