POSITION: Intern for Public Diplomacy Section (Several Positions)

OPENING DATE: April 30, 2024

WORK HOURS: Part-time, 20-30 hrs. per week

IMPORTANT NOTICE:

For students at universities in Tbilisi, limited telework may be determined in consultation with the Public Diplomacy Section.
This is NOT an offer of Federal Employment.

There will be NO benefits.

There will be NO COMPENSATION.

This Internship is for current students of UNIVERSITIES in GEORGIA.

Must have a personal smart phone and computer to perform telework.

BASIC FUNCTION OF POSITION:

Assists Press Section staff according to current needs and activities:
Monitor press and social media using online based search tools, like Google, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and other Georgian news websites.

Assist with translation from English to Georgia and vice versa.

Assists Cultural Section staff according to current needs and activities:

** Monitor media and conduct research related to cultural issues.
** Attend and help organize cultural events on behalf of staff.
** Assist with translation from English to Georgia and vice versa.

Assists Grant Section staff according to current needs and activities:

** Assist with review of grants proposals administering cycle.
** Draft correspondence on behalf of Embassy.
** Assist with translation from English to Georgia and vice versa.

Assists Administrative unit with administrative tasks:

** Assist with drafting of budget planning and tracking documents.
** Assist with planning and preparation for Embassy representational events.
** Draft correspondence, completes filing, and other clerical duties.

Assists American Spaces staff according to current needs and activities:

** Assist with planning and hosting events in the Embassy iSpace and virtual programming.
** Attend events on behalf of the Embassy and prepares written reports.
** Assist with the planning and coordination of activities at American Corners, Shelves, and Bookmobile.
** Assist with preparation of procurement requests and property grants.
** Assist with translation from English to Georgia and vice versa.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

** Must have access to internet and have personal smart phone and computer to be able to telework when the Embassy operating status does not permit in-person work. However, must also be available to work at the Embassy in Tbilisi if the Embassy is at normal operating status.
** Must be a student at any higher education institutions in Georgia and be advanced in his/her studies towards a university degree.
** Level IV (Fluent) speaking/reading/writing in Georgian and English is required. Please note the Embassy`s Public Diplomacy Section also offers internships for minority language speakers, which are advertised separately.
** Working knowledge of MS Office: Word, Excel, Outlook.

** A letter from your university/graduate school clearly stating they grant you permission to do an internship (in English);
** Transcript of academic studies (in English);
** ID Card;
** Letter of recommendation (not mandatory, however will strengthen an application submitted).

All applicants must indicate the names of any family members related by blood or marriage who are working for the U.S. Embassy in Tbilisi, or for any other U.S. Government entity (USAID, Peace Corps, etc.). This includes brothers, sisters, parents, children, cousins, aunts, uncles, in-laws by marriage - any family connection at all. If there are no family members or relatives, they must clearly state this in their application.
