The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in Tbilisi is seeking candidates for position of Driver of Light Vehicles Based in Tbilisi.

About us:

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) is a Geneva-based humanitarian organization that protects and assists victims of armed conflicts and other situations of violence without discrimination. It has been providing humanitarian aid in Georgia for more than 30 years.

Purpose:

The Light Vehicles Driver transports people and good in a safely and timely manner, in accordance with ICRC rules and regulations and national traffic law.

Accountabilities & Functional responsibilities:

** Constantly monitors security conditions on the road
** Ensures that goods are loaded inside the vehicle according to local, international and ICRC safety standards; ensures that no cargo is transported in the vehicle without Way Bill (WB)
** Checks their assigned vehicle (s)` equipment (tools, first aid kit, etc.), general functioning and body condition and ensures that it is kept fuelled and clean inside and out
** Checks that trips have been authorized where necessary
** Checks that waiver of liability are signed by the non-ICRC passengers they transport
** Immediately reports accidents, defects and/or missing equipment to the line manager in compliance with existing procedures
** Follows and respects existing radio communication policies

Additional duties:

** Drives different types of ICRC vehicles (light) to and from various locations to collect and deliver goods/ documents / people
** Applies strictly internal safety and security rules and national traffic rules
** Ensures cleaning/washing and routine maintenance of vehicles, proper fuelling,
** Ensures at the beginning of each day that equipment on attributed cars is according to the requirement
** Helps in (un-)loading of vehicles
** Daily work involves frequent driving on irregular terrain, off roads and/or crossing of check points.

People management responsibilities: No

Certifications / Education required:

** Secondary school diploma
** Driving license B held for at least 5 years. Driving license C will be an asset.

Professional Experience required:

** Experience in similar position is an asset
** Automobile maintenance experience (oil checks, changing tyres, etc.)
** Experience to use mechanical (manual) and automatic transmissions
** Basic knowledge of mechanics
** Good knowledge of area of assignment

Languages:

** Knowledge of the Georgian and English languages
** Knowledge of Russian would be an asset

If successful, you may then be employed by that National Society and seconded to the ICRC for an assignment to its operations.

Countries of nationality or residence concerned: Australia, Canada, Denmark, Finland, Ireland, Iceland, Japan, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Sweden, and United Kingdom.
