NATO Liaison Office in Georgia is pleased to announce an opening for the position of Regional Affairs Assistant.

Summary

Under the overall direction of the Head of the NATO Liaison Office (NLO) in Georgia and the direct supervision of the Head of the NLO`s Political and Public Diplomacy team, the Regional Affairs Assistant helps to develop the operational capacity of the NLO. The incumbent works as part of the NLO`s Political and Public Diplomacy team to support the execution of political and public diplomacy affairs-related tasks, including monitoring, research, and report drafting, with a particular focus on Armenia, Azerbaijan, and regional South Caucasus issues.

The incumbent may be called on to support the planning and implementation of NLO public diplomacy initiatives in the South Caucasus region and may be tasked with supporting the NLO`s Regional Security Officer, as required. The incumbent should be flexible to work outside of normal working hours when necessary.

Qualifications and Experience

The incumbent must:

** be a citizen of Georgia or have permanent residence in the country;
** possess higher secondary-level education with a minimum of 4 years` experience, OR upper vocational training/ post-secondary degree with a minimum of 2 years` experience in political sciences, international relations, or other relevant field;
** have a sound knowledge of international affairs, security policy issues and the overall political context of NATO`s cooperation with the three South Caucasus countries, in particular with Armenia and Azerbaijan;
** have well-developed research, analytical and drafting skills;
** have good computer skills, including good knowledge of existing and emerging (AI) applications, as well as basic skills in digital communication and social media;
** possess the following language levels: English level V (Advanced); Georgian level VI (Proficient);
** have no criminal record and pass security and medical screening.

The following would be considered an advantage:

** experience working for international organizations/embassies and/or non-governmental organizations;
** experience in project management;
** proficiency in Armenian and/or Azerbaijani language (s), with a good working knowledge of Russian.

Main Accountabilities

Knowledge Management: Monitor political and security developments in the South Caucasus region in order to contribute to the NLO`s understanding of regional developments. Under the supervision of the Head of the Political and Public Diplomacy team, provide inputs to NLO reports on regional affairs and developments. In support of the Head of the Political and Public Diplomacy team, assist in drafting reports; provide detailed assessments; research and summarize background materials. Assist in preparing briefing notes, speaking points, speeches, and articles as required.

Representation of the Organization: Assist in designing and implementing public diplomacy activities in the South Caucasus as required. provide support to visits by NATO delegations to the South Caucasus region. Assist in liaison with stakeholders, including NATO Contact Point Embassies, other Allied Embassies, government officials in the South Caucasus countries, and local civil society organisations. Support and contribute to NLO-organized conferences, seminars, round table discussions and similar events.

Information Management: Maintain a professional, courteous and responsible client-oriented manner and maintain the absolute confidentiality and security of NATO information;

Perform other related duties as required.

Interrelationships

Reporting Line: The Regional Affairs Assistant reports to the Head of the Political and Public Diplomacy team, under the overall leadership of the Head of the NATO Liaison Office in Georgia.

Interactions: The incumbent interacts with NATO Contact Point Embassies, other Allied Embassies, government officials, and local civil society organisations.
