Ad title: Compliance Officer / MLRO
Provided By: Company
Published: 18 August / Deadline: 18 September
Company is a licensed broker based in Tbilisi. We serve private capital, investment funds and corporate clients across multiple jurisdictions.

The company provides services in traditional securities and in digital assets. The latter refers to the application of blockchain technology within financial services infrastructure and to the development of regulated instruments built on it. This is not cryptocurrency trading: all activity is conducted within the scope of our licence and in accordance with regulatory requirements.

The licence is in place and the client base is established. The current stage is the full deployment of operational activity in Tbilisi: formalising processes, document flow and reporting, and moving the business into a systematic mode of operation. The company has access to relevant expertise and established industry practices, which will need to be adapted to local requirements and to our client profile.

Compliance Officer / MLRO

Tbilisi · office, hybrid possible · full-time · reporting to the Director

How we work

** The team is small and will remain so. Serving capital at this level depends on speed and quality of service, not on headcount.
** We follow legal requirements and leading industry practice.
** Controls are mandatory, but their purpose is to complete transactions correctly — not to find grounds for refusal.
** A significant part of our processes is built around AI tools. Technical literacy and an understanding of how such systems work are requirements, not preferences.
** We are looking for independent professionals. These roles involve making decisions within your own area of responsibility, without external supervision or reminders.

Role context

This role is responsible for the completeness and quality of client due diligence at onboarding, for the condition of client files, and for monitoring transactions against legal requirements. For every client, the company must hold documented justification for the decision taken. Reviews are carried out in full and within predictable timeframes — file quality and adherence to deadlines are treated as equally important requirements of the function.

Responsibilities

Policies and the control framework

** Developing and maintaining AML/CFT policies and internal procedures; ensuring actual practice matches approved documentation.
** Organisation-wide ML/TF risk assessment, client risk-rating matrix, staff training.
** Auditing existing policies against real-world practice and closing any identified gaps.
Client onboarding and ongoing monitoring
** KYC/KYB: client identification, establishing ultimate beneficial owners, verifying source of wealth and source of funds, risk scoring, enhanced due diligence for high-risk clients.
** KYT: monitoring client transactions, identifying unusual and suspicious activity, investigating alerts. For digital asset transactions — address screening on deposits and use of blockchain analytics tools.
** Travel Rule: implementing and observing requirements for collecting and transmitting originator and beneficiary data, including procedures for incomplete data sets.
** Setting and meeting SLAs by risk level: standard cases within one business day; where documentation is incomplete, a specific and immediate request to the client.
** Sanctions screening of clients, beneficial owners and counterparties.

Reporting and engagement with authorities

** Preparing and filing suspicious activity reports; observing confidentiality requirements and record-keeping obligations.
** Regulatory reporting within prescribed deadlines and formats; maintaining a reporting register with assigned owners.
** Supporting regulatory inspections and preparing responses to requests.
Counterparties and infrastructure
** Counterparty due diligence (banks, trading venues, custodians, depositories) and maintenance of counterparty files.

Requirements

** Georgian citizenship. Fluent Georgian.
** Confident working English (B2+): international counterparties, sanctions lists, industry standards.
** At least 2-3 years in AML/compliance at a bank, brokerage or investment firm, payment institution or MFI in Georgia.
** Command of local regulatory documentation: the ability to work from primary sources, apply a provision to a specific case, and justify a decision by reference to the requirement rather than to established habit.
** Speed combined with accuracy: meeting deadlines without excessive formalism.
** A constructive approach to client files.
** Readiness to bear personal responsibility as the designated responsible officer.

Advantageous

Securities market compliance experience · understanding of digital asset technology and experience with blockchain analytics systems (Chainalysis, Elliptic, TRM, Crystal or equivalents) · experience of regulatory inspections · Russian language.

Terms

Remuneration is discussed individually. Employment formalities, training and certifications are covered by the company. Hybrid working is available once adherence to processes has been demonstrated.

Selection process: interview → case study reviewing a client file → business reputation check.
