General context for the position

Since 1994, Swisscontact has been active in Eastern Europe, implementing projects that strengthen skills development, enterprise competitiveness and market systems.
Swisscontact is preparing to launch a new initiative to support Georgia`s hospitality sector, positioning the private sector as a key driver of industry-relevant skills development. The project, Private Sectordriven Hospitality Skills for Employment (PS-HOST), is envisioned to enhance inclusive employment in the industry and create better income opportunities for youth, women and men—particularly disadvantaged groups from rural areas. To achieve this, the project will contribute to the development of a private sector-driven, Swiss-quality skills development ecosystem that delivers market-relevant training, career guidance, recruitment services, and innovative financing solutions.

To support the implementation of the project, Swisscontact is seeking a qualified and motivated Project Accountant based in Tbilisi.

Purpose of the Position

The Project Accountant is responsible for overseeing the financial dimensions of assigned projects, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and transparency throughout. Reporting directly to the Finance and Administration Manager, the Project Accountant will contribute to sound financial management, audit readiness and transparent project implementation. The role ensures that project expenditures are accurate, well documented and aligned with internal policies, donor requirements and applicable Georgian regulations.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

** Maintaining accurate and up-to-date project accounting records.
** Tracking project costs and variances against approved budget.
** Ensuring timely and accurate processing of invoices, payments, expense allocations, and reconciliations.
** Preparing monthly, quarterly, and ad-hoc project financial reports.
** Providing tax declarations to the state Revenue Services on monthly basis, and compliance with Georgian tax and accounting regulations
** Ensuring that all financial transactions are properly documented and compliant with internal financial policies, donor requirements and external regulatory requirements.
** Maintaining accurate and well-organised documentation for audits and compliance reviews.
** Assisting in implementing financial controls to safeguard project assets.
** Working closely with the Finance and Admin Manager, project management team and relevant external stakeholders on financial planning, reporting and follow-up.
** Perform other finance, administration, procurement and operational support tasks as reasonably required for the effective implementation of the project.

Working Conditions and EnvironmentL

Requirements:

** Bachelor`s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field.
** 3-5 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in a project-based or donor-funded environment
** Proficiency in accounting software, knowledge of AbaField would be an asset
** Strong MS Excel skills
** Excellent analytical, organizational, and inter-personal skills.
** Pro-active, solution-oriented, flexible and able to work without close supervision and under pressure.
** Good command of English, including the ability to communicate on financial matters in a project environment
** High level of accuracy, integrity, transparency and attention to detail
** Respectful and collaborative approach in working with colleagues, partners and external stakeholders.
