The Peace Corps is a US Agency working in over 60 countries around the world. The Peace Corps established a program in Georgia in 2001 at the invitation of the Government of Georgia. As a non-political, non-commercial, and non-religious agency, Peace Corps Georgia contributes to the expressed social and economic development needs of Georgia while promoting a better understanding between Americans and Georgians. The first group of 21 Volunteers worked alongside Georgian teachers in secondary education English teaching assignments. Since that time, over 900 Volunteers have served in Georgia, exchanging skills with their Georgian counterparts, supervisors, and community members, sharing American culture, and bringing a part of Georgian culture back home to the United States. The next cohort of Volunteers will arrive on May 30, 2026.
Peace Corps Georgia is seeking qualified applicants for the short-term position of Homestay Coordinator (HSC) for the Pre-Service Training Program.
Tentative Dates of Contract:
April 1 - June 10, 2026. Actual number of workdays within the contract period will not exceed 50.
The Homestay Coordinator (HSC) will work under the supervision of the Training Manager. They will be responsible for the promotion and implementation of the homestay program that is one of the components of Pre-Service Training (PST). They will secure PST Georgian resource families in pre-selected villages of Gori Municipalities for American Trainees and host families for Georgian Language and Inter-Cultural Facilitators (LICFs), which meet Peace Corps standards and requirements. They will plan the program and direct the search, interviews and final selection of resource families for Trainees and host families for LICFs. Resource families will serve as cultural informants for American trainees and will take part in different cultural activities with them in the communities. The position will require extensive travel in surrounding villages of Gori.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
** Undergo training in elements and operations of the position;
** Coordinate with the Training Manager at all stages of the process;
** Outreach and coordinate with school directors and other key community members about potential resource/host families;
** Conduct community meetings to inform potential families of program, obligations, compensation, expectations and other details;
** Contact potential resource/host families on the phone and interview them using the Peace Corps phone screening and interview questionnaire;
** Plan, arrange and perform visits to all potential resource/host families. Complete the interview and survey form, ensuring that families meet established criteria;
** Select most appropriate resource/host families, identify and document follow-ups, and work with resource/host families to ensure all requirements are met before Trainees arrival;
** Assist in assigning Trainees and LICFs in/to the resource/host families;
** Provide information to the LICFs about the host families;
** Makes recommendations to match Trainees and resource families considering Trainee preferences, requirements and needs;
** Ensures that resource/host families clearly understand their roles and responsibilities;
** Assists the Training Manager in finding the accommodation for PST staff in Gori;
** Submits regular updates to the Training Manager on the development of the program preparation throughout the contracting period;
** Attends staff and other meetings as required;
** Maintains accurate and complete records of host/resource families and submits periodic and final reports;
** Upon completion of the contract submits complete binder with all relevant information to the Training Manager both electronically and hard copy;
** Performs other duties as required by the Training Manager within the scope if their role.
Minimum Required Qualifications:
** Familiarity with local area, customs, and culture (Gori Municipalities);
** Willing and able to travel frequently within the area of PST;
** Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written;
** Organizational and time management skills;
** Flexible, positive attitude, ability to work independently, ability to meet deadlines and multi-task;
** Pre-Intermediate level of competency in using MS Word and Excel;
** Fluency in Georgian.
Preferred Qualifications:
** Experience working for American or international organizations conducting similar activities.
** Based in Gori or Shida Kartli region.
