Power-IT is pleased to announce an opening for the position of Financial Controller.
Location: Tbilisi, Georgia (with occasional travel to Cyprus and DIFC)
Reporting to: Chief Commercial Officer (CCO)
Company Overview:
We are a fast-growing, dynamic start-up group in the renewable energy sector with a diverse portfolio of Special Purpose Vehicles (SPVs) across Cyprus and Georgia, and our head office in the DIFC. Our operations include PV Parks, a significant electricity supply company, and various other assets. We are on a mission to build a robust, scalable, and efficient finance function to support our ambitious growth plans.
The Role: A Unique Opportunity to Build and Lead
This is not a typical Financial Controller role. We are seeking a hands-on, ambitious, and process-oriented leader to take on the newly created position of Financial Controller, based in our Georgia office. You will be one of two key leaders in our finance team, reporting directly to the CCO.
Your mission will be to establish and lead our group-wide reporting and budgeting functions while taking full ownership of the finance operations in Georgia. You will work as a peer and collaborative partner to our highly experienced Chief Accountant based in Cyprus. While she leads on technical accounting, audit, and Cyprus operations, you will lead on management information, budget control, and Georgian operations. This is a unique opportunity to make a significant impact, build processes from the ground up, and grow with a leading company in the renewable energy space.
Key Responsibilities:
Group Reporting & Budget Management (in collaboration with the Chief Accountant):
** Unified Reporting: Design, implement, and manage a standardised monthly group reporting pack that provides timely, accurate, and insightful management information for all entities in Cyprus and Georgia.
** Budgeting & Forecasting: Lead the annual group-wide budgeting process. Establish and manage a monthly budget vs. actual variance analysis, providing commentary and recommendations to senior leadership.
** Cash Flow Management: Implement and oversee a monthly cash-flow forecasting process for the group.
Georgian Finance Operations Management:
** Team Leadership: Assume full hierarchical management of the Georgian finance organization and outsourced accounting provider. Drive performance, set objectives, and ensure the structure delivers high-quality work.
** Odoo Implementation: Lead the project to migrate all Georgian entities from their current accounting system to our group ERP, Odoo. Manage the process from planning to execution to ensure a successful rollout.
** Local Accounting & Compliance: Ensure the timely and accurate preparation of monthly accounts for all Georgian SPVs. Ensure all local statutory and tax requirements are met.
Financial Control & Process Improvement:
** Standardisation: In partnership with the Chief Accountant, drive the standardisation and documentation of key financial processes (e.g., month-end close, intercompany transactions) across the group.
** Controls: Implement and monitor financial controls to ensure the integrity of our financial data and adherence to group policies.
** Systems: Act as the business owner for the Odoo ERP system, identifying opportunities for automation and efficiency improvements.
Candidate Profile: The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
** Experience: A minimum of 5-7 years of progressive experience in accounting and finance, with at least 2 years in a controller or finance manager role. Experience in a "Big 4" accounting firm is highly desirable.
** Qualifications: A professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACCA, ACA, CPA, CFA) is mandatory.
** Technical Skills:
- Strong understanding of IFRS and financial control frameworks.
- Proven experience with ERP systems is essential; specific experience with Odoo is a major advantage.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial modelling.
** Leadership & Management: Demonstrable experience managing a team and driving performance. Experience managing outsourced service providers is a plus.
** Industry: Experience in the energy, infrastructure, or a related project-based industry with multiple legal entities is highly preferred.
** Languages: Fluency in English is essential. Fluency in Georgian is a significant advantage.
