Freelance Senior Frontend Engineer (React)
** Salary: 3000-3800 EUR per month (depending on experience)
** 100% remote work
** Full-time
** Contract: B2B (6 Months Contract)
We are currently seeking a Senior Frontend Engineer for a leading British company specializing in digital consultancy, with over a decade of experience in the industry. Join the supporting engineering team and work with prestigious clients from all over the world. This project involves evolving an existing content platform, moving from a Gatsby setup to a Next.js environment and refining the way content is structured, delivered, and managed.
Requirements:
** 4+ years building production-grade applications using React
** 2+ years using TypeScript in commercial projects
** Hands-on experience implementing and maintaining Headless CMS solutions (Storyblok is ideal, others such as Contentful or Sanity also relevant)
** Solid understanding of modern frontend architecture, component design, and state management
** Experience working with static or hybrid rendering frameworks (e.g., Gatsby, Astro, etc.)
** Familiarity with frontend build tools and quality checks (Vite, ESLint, Prettier, etc.)
** Strong grasp of structured content models, taxonomy, and SEO fundamentals
** Awareness of accessibility standards (WCAG) and responsive design practices
** Proven success working in agile, cross-disciplinary teams
** Clear communication and collaboration skills.
Nice to have:
** Experience building or migrating projects in Next.js (SSR, ISR, API routes)
** Knowledge of CI/CD and deployment workflows
** Exposure to Tailwind CSS, CSS Modules, or other modern CSS frameworks
** Understanding of performance analytics and monitoring tools
Responsibilities:
** Develop and enhance modular, reusable React components aligned with a component-driven design approach
** Help transition our existing front-end architecture from Gatsby to Next.js, ensuring smooth migration and performance improvements
** Implement and refine content structures in a Headless CMS (ideally Storyblok) to ensure consistency, scalability, and ease of use
** Collaborate with designers, content editors, and backend developers to streamline workflows and improve the editorial experience
** Optimise pages for speed, accessibility, and search visibility
** Ensure responsive and accessible user experiences across all viewports and devices
** Contribute to code reviews, deployment practices, and technical documentation
** Provide CMS guidance to non-technical teams, ensuring efficient and autonomous content management
