The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) is pleased to announce an Internship Programme for young veterinarians to be based in Zugdidi, Georgia

FAO is implementing the project "Fostering the Economic Resilience of Small-Scale Female Farmers in Samegrelo and Abkhazia through Farmer Field Schools, " funded by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC). The project focuses on strengthening two key value chains in the regions: dairy and fruits and vegetables, with the aim of improving the livelihoods and resilience of smallholder farmers.

To support the implementation of dairy-related activities under the project, FAO Georgia is launching an internship programme that aims to strengthen local capacity in targeted municipalities. Dairy is one of the project`s core components, with a focus on raising awareness and improving farming practices through the Farmer Field Schools (FFS) approach. For Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti these activities will be implemented in Zugdidi, Chkhorotsku, Tsalenjikha, Abasha, Martvili, Senaki, Khobi, and Mestia. The Internship programme at FAO Georgia intends to help interns develop stronger technical and managerial skills, while providing a hands-on experience in the field. Interns will receive both theoretical and practical training from experts in various value chains, particularly in food safety and animal health. This will enable them to effectively contribute to FFS sessions, field demonstration plots, and processing plant activities. Given the need for direct engagement with farmers and Food Business Operators (FBOs), the project prioritizes candidates who speak local language/s.

The intern will work under the overall supervision of the FAO Programme Coordinator in Georgia, with guidance from the Project Manager and the Head of the Regional Office in Zugdidi. They will also receive support from both national and international consultants.

The interns will have the following benefits from the programme:

** Receive specialized training relevant to dairy farming and processing.
** Gain practical experience from FAO staff and experts
** Assist in preparation of trainings materials and guidelines in scope of food processing industry.

** The intern will be introduced to the basics of Zoho as a data management tool, learning how to collect, enter, and organize field-level information to support Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) activities, including tracking training sessions, farmer participation, and survey results.
