The Peace Corps is a U.S. Agency working in over 60 countries around the world. The Peace Corps established a program in Georgia in 2001 at the invitation of the Government of Georgia. As a non-political, non-commercial, and non-religious agency, Peace Corps Georgia contributes to the expressed social and economic development needs of Georgia while promoting a better understanding between Americans and Georgians. In 2001, the first group of 21 Volunteers worked alongside Georgian teachers in secondary education English teaching assignments. Since that time, over 900 Volunteers have served in Georgia, exchanging skills with their Georgian counterparts, supervisors, and community members; sharing American culture; and bringing a part of Georgian culture back home to the United States. The 22nd group of Volunteers will arrive in April 2025. All Volunteers will complete an 11-week intensive Pre-Service Training (PST) in Georgia before beginning their service.
Peace Corps Georgia is seeking qualified applicants for the position of: Language and Inter-Cultural Assistant (LICA).

Tentative Dates of contract:
March 12 - July 3, 2025
• March 12 - April 4 in Tbilisi (Training of Trainers, Preparation, Orientation Week)
• April 7 - June 27 in surrounding communities of Gori (PST main phase)
• June 30 - July 3 (Swearing-In Ceremony in Tbilisi, PST wrap-up)
The LICA will closely work with the Language and Inter-Cultural Coordinator (LICC) and Training Manager. In coordination with the LICC, they will design and plan inter-cultural training activities for both the HUB training days and at training clusters. They will observe language training classes and provide feedback to Language and Inter-Cultural Facilitators (LICFs) in coordination with the LICC. They will document reports and conduct language training classes, when needed. The LICA will participate in the evaluation of the language training program and the overall assessment of Trainees` language performance and inter-cultural adjustment.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
** Attends and participates in all pre-PST planning meetings and activities;
** Assists in the administration and overall management of the language and inter- culture component of PST;
** Works closely with the Training Manager and LICC, and assists them to design and implement the Language Training of Trainers (LTOT) according to established knowledge, skills and attitudes (KSAs);
** Assists the Training Manager and LICC in the design, implementation and evaluation of Georgian language and inter-culture component of PST;
** Observes and monitors Georgian Language classes;
** Gives appropriate feedback to LICFs;
** Gives feedback to Trainees and responds effectively to their language and inter-cultural concerns;
** Compiles and documents LICF reports;
** Supports the LICC in preparing weekly and final reports;
** Conducts language training classes during PST, as needed;
** Acts as inter-cultural resource person providing information on Georgian culture, customs, tradition and history;
** Coordinates with the Administrative Assistant to ensure quality administrative and logistical support to language and inter-cultural component of PST;
** Performs other duties as required by the Training Manager and LICC within the scope of their role.
Minimum Required Qualifications:
** University degree (preferably in Georgian, English, education or relevant field);
** At least 3 years of experience in training or teaching;
** Knowledge of modern teaching methodology (group-work, interactive method, and learning activities, etc.);
** At least 2 years of experience in training assistance, preferably in language and cultural training;
** Knowledge of Georgian national history and cultural values and practices; familiarity with Georgian regional customs and traditions;
** Fluency in written and spoken Georgian and English;
** Upper-Intermediate level of competency in using MS Word and Excel;
** Demonstrated presentation and training skills;
** Experience in working within inter-cultural teams, including trainees and staff.
Preferred Qualifications:
** Prior experience working for International Organizations, especially with similar training programs;
** Prior experience with coaching language tutors or teachers;
** Prior experience working with Americans and/or experience living abroad;
** Basic experience in Learning Management System (LMS) platforms and/or virtual facilitation.

** Staff must live full-time in the training site for a period of 11 weeks and attend orientation training which will be held in Tbilisi. Staff should arrange accommodation in Tbilisi on their own, the Peace Corps will provide accommodation in Gori, as needed.
