Our Credit, Portfolio & Restructuring team is looking for an additional colleague in the function of a (Senior) Credit Officer

This role is meant for an experienced professional with a strong background in credit management. We welcome senior candidates too, and the final job title (Senior Credit Officer or Credit Officer) will be determined based on the candidate`s experience and skill set.

Your Main Tasks:

** Perform counterparty risk analysis for a wide variety of emerging market financial institutions, including banks, regulated and non-regulated microfinance institutions, captive finance entities, leasing companies and other NBFIs.
** Bring forward, based on your own extensive experience and understanding, sound and innovative solutions for credit structuring, particularly for more complex and riskier transactions.
** Work closely with investment officers to advise on appropriate credit-risk mitigation structures prior to term sheet agreement.
** Become a trusted competence center for the independent credit function, coordinating, mentoring and providing guidance to the investment officer teams in their credit assessment work.
** In close coordination and partnership with investment officers, present credit assessments to both internal and external investment committees.
** Assess credit applications in accordance with the company`s global under-writing standards, perform investment criteria checks and confirm credit ratings.
** Perform and coordinate regular monitoring of outstanding transactions, investees, and risk-relevant market and sector developments.
** Lead or support field visits, as necessary, to conduct local market and counterparty due diligence. ** This requires the successful candidate to be available to travel worldwide up to 10-20% of work time, often at short notice.
** Contribute to global consistency in responsAbility`s credit assessment approach, undertake ad-hoc analyses as appropriate and in furtherance of both regional and global origination strategies with the goal of increasing risk-adjusted return on a portfolio basis.

Your Experience and Skills:

Minimum requirements:

** Advanced university degree (master`s or equivalent) in finance or economics.
** Minimum 5 (professional level) to 8 (senior level) years` professional experience in credit management, fixed income or equity research covering the financial services sector.
** Ability to travel, often at short notice.
** Superior written and oral communication skills with relevant track record in English. Advanced Spanish would be a welcome additional skill.

Experience and skills:

** Broad experience with emerging market financial sectors, e.g. banks, finance companies, microfinance institutions and other NBFIs.
** Demonstrated personal and/or professional interest in development finance that has led to a nuanced understanding of the unique challenges found in emerging markets.
** Excellent technical knowledge and analytic capabilities across the full-range of potential credit risk profiles: corporate, strategic business, fixed income and equity investments.
** Strong competence in the use of presentational and quantitative tools.
** Highly reliable, flexible and self-reliant personality with good intercultural skills.
** Successful candidates combine independence of opinion with being a team player and have prior experience in coordinating or managing teams.
