Enhance National Disease Surveillance System in Georgia through Improvement of the Epidemiological and Molecular (Genomic) Surveillance

We are looking for a responsible, enthusiastic, self-motivated and organized persons to become a member of a project team working on a European Union funded Twinning Project in Georgia. The project will be based in Tbilisi and will work with colleagues from Georgia and Lithuania.

We are seeking to recruit Language Assistant to the Resident Twinning Advisor (RTA) for the Project implementation period.

Indicative start date in a position: 1st August, 2024

Place of the work: National Center for Disease Control and Public Health, 4 Kakheti Hwy, Tbilisi, Georgia

Gross monthly salary: 1.500 EUR

Contract type: fixed term service contract.

The RTA Language Assistant will report directly and will be supervised by the RTA.
Important: The RTA Language Assistant may not have or recently (past six months) have had any contractual relation with the Beneficiary administration.

Tasks of RTA Language Assistant:

** To support the Resident Twinning Advisor (RTA), Project Leader (PL) and Short-Term Experts (STEs) in all language-related issues during the project;
** To provide in-house interpretation services for the RTA, PL and STEs at formal and informal meetings (consecutive, simultaneous, chuchotage; English-Georgian and vice versa);
** To provide interpretation services at formal and informal meetings of the project during study tours (consecutive, simultaneous, chuchotage; English-Georgian and vice versa);
** To provide in-house translation services for legal and operational documentation on behalf of the RTA, PL and STEs (English-Georgian and vice versa);
** To provide translations of official papers of the RTA, PL and STEs, where so required (English-Georgian and vice versa);
** To draw up and manage bilingual project terminology;
** To translate project documents, (legal) texts, regulations, training materials, information material, reports and other written material from English to Georgian language and vice versa whenever needed;
** To support the RTA, PL and STEs in organisational tasks within the project;
** Maintain confidentiality in all matters relating to the realization and management of the project

Essential skills:

** University degree, preferably in Translation and Interpreting;
** Work experience in translation and/ or interpretation activities at least three years;
** Professional fluency in English and Georgian both oral and written.
** Excellent organisational and communication skills;
** Computer literate, in particular a good working knowledge of current Microsoft Office packages with specific attention to Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint;
** Ability to work using videoconferencing technologies
** Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations and to work in a team and ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with all levels of employees and outside contacts;
** High degree of independence, strong own initiative and flexibility, discretion and professionalism;
** Talent to efficiently manage multiple priorities;
** Strong intercultural and social competences.

Desirable skills:

** Previous experience of working on Twinning or similar EU or international projects;
** Practical experience in simultaneous interpretation will be an asset;
** Familiarity with CAT tools (including terminology management) would be an asset.

The above-mentioned Twinning project is an EU funded project being implemented by Lithuania, represented by Vilnius University Hospital Santaros Klinikos together with Vilnius University, National Public Health Surveillance Laboratory, Health Emergency Situations Centre of the Ministry of Health, National Blood Center, Central Project Management Agency (CPVA) and Georgia, represented by the Ministry of Internally Displaced Persons from the Occupied Territories, Labour, Health and Social Affairs of Georgia (MoIDPLHSA), L. Sakvarelidze National Center for Disease Control and Public Health (NCDC) .

The project implementation will last 24 months starting from 13th June, 2024.

The overall objective of the project is to contribute to the strengthening capacity for legislative approximation and implementation of the Association Agreement with a specific objective to build genome sequencing capacity at the National Center for Disease Control and Public Health (NCDC) and introduce relevant legal and regulatory framework in line with EU directives and the one-health concept.
The selected person will be a self-employed independent consultant under a Service Contract and will undertake full responsibility for the payment of all taxes and obligations deriving from the legislation in force in the Republic of Georgia, including for those related to medical and social insurance. The Language Assistant will carry his/her duties and tasks on the base of contract concluded with the CPVA and RTA.
