About AmCham Georgia:
American Chamber of Commerce in Georgia (AmCham) is the largest international business chamber in Georgia with 210 members. Our public policy work aims to increase the simplicity, consistency, predictability and openness of the Georgian business environment. Our work in public policy utilizes our own network of members, our strong connections with the US and Georgian Governments, our role on the Investor Council and 7 committees.
One of the key vehicles for engagement with the Government is the Investor Council. The Investor Council was created by Prime Ministerial Decree in May 2015 and AmCham Georgia was one of the founding members. Chaired by the Georgian Prime Minister, the Council brings together the main economic agencies of the government (including Ministers of Economy, Regional Development and Infrastructure, Agriculture, Finance and the Business Ombudsman), representatives of the private sector and international financial institutions. The first meeting of the Investor Council was held on November 2015 and since that time, meetings have been held every 6-8 weeks.
Our committee work acts as a platform for more intensive analysis of particular sectors or business issues. It also provides a framework for dialogue with the government. We have seven active committees:
** Commercial law and tax
** Trade and transportation
** Energy Mining and Utilities
** Corporate social responsibility
** Education and training
** Tourism committee
Member Meetings and Social events:
In addition to public policy work we have thre member meetings per month, including a luncheon, a roundtable and a cocktail reception. These provide an opportunity for members to connect with senior members of the government and international community as well as catch-up with one another. In 2017 we hosted the Prime Minister, the Minister of Economy, the Minister of Justice, the Minister of Education, the head of the National Bank, the head of the IMF and many others. In addition to our regular member events we also have larger events, like our Gala Ball last year and our annual 4th of July barbeque or the election breakfast following the US election last year.
Our main publication is the business magazine Investor.ge (http://www.investor.ge). This is the most regularly published and longest standing investment magazine published in English in Georgia and aims to provide objective and accessible news and analysis on emerging business sectors, investment deals and changes in government policy, as it relates to the corporate sector. The magazine is distributed for free and available by email or on our website.
